Exploring Us: The Science of Us | HDSB Black History Month

The Exploring Us conference brings students together from secondary schools across the HDSB to explore their identity through science, innovation and cultural heritage. Through experiential workshops, students connect Blackness to the scientific world, celebrate Black contributions to global knowledge and engage in hands-on activities in an atmosphere where curiosity and empowerment are at the forefront.

This event brings to life our HDSB Multi-Year Strategic Plan, highlighting our commitments to learning, engagement and achievement, human rights, equity and inclusion, mental health and well-being and kindness, connection and community.

Garth Webb SS students David, Tyler and Matthew are gaining hands-on experience through Cooperative Education! Co-op is a fantastic opportunity for HDSB students to earn secondary school credits while completing a work experience placement in the community. It's available in all HDSB secondary schools and is valuable for all post-secondary destinations including: apprenticeship, college, community, university or work. The Young Women in Leadership club at Abbey Park HS held their annual International Women's Day Breakfast on Friday Mar. 7, 2025. Attendees enjoyed breakfast, participated in a silent auction to raise funds for SAVIS (Sexual Assault & Violence Intervention Services), networked and listened to inspiring guest speakers.
